Storytelling with Ocean in Google Earth. Case studies with National Geographic, Mission Blue & Wildscreen

Google, National Geographic, Sylvia Earle's Mission Blue Foundation, IUCN and Wildscreen have worked to make information about marine science and conservation available to the world in the Ocean in Google Earth and Maps. The goal of this workshop is share how organizations have used Google Earth and Maps for ocean conservation outreach. The Ocean layers in Google Earth contain important geo‐located data and exciting multimedia content ‐ critical to our global conservation efforts. This workshop will provide an overview of what is available in this virtual ocean.

+Sylvia Earle will speak about Mission Blue's efforts.
+Jenifer Austin Foulkes, head of Google's Oceans Program, will cover the latest of geo products to communicate about the ocean.
+John Francis from National Geographic will speak about, "The latest in National Geographic ocean storytelling, including Drop Cam, Google Hangouts, Crittercam, and Pristine Seas Expeditions mapped to Google Ocean."
+Richard Edwards, CEO of ARKive/Wildscreen, will highlight how they have used Ocean in Google Earth to engage a public audience through the ARKive project.
+Dan Laffoley will speak from IUCN highlighting its marine protected area layer.
