During this session pictures and videos from the Last Ocean documentary from Peter Young about the Ross Sea will be shown.
Other activities from partner organizations will be briefly introduced (quick-fire rounds), e.g. Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) as proposed by the Antarctic Ocean Alliance.
The audience will then have the opportunity to discuss the presented activities and information in an informal setting.
This session will also provide a platform for people and organizations new to Antarctic and Southern Ocean issues to learn more, network and identify opportunities and contacts for future efforts.
The objectives of this event are to
- highlight the beauty, biodiversity and uniqueness of the Southern Ocean
- provide a platform for Antarctic stakeholders and interested organizations and individuals to connect and discuss Antarctic and Southern Ocean issues
- enable exchange and dialogue on the next steps towards the implementation of MPAs in the Southern Ocean
