Leaders for Nature - a global network for joint action between business and conservation organizations

You may say I´m a dreamer. But I´m not the only one. I hope someday you´ll join us. And the world will be as one. Imagine, by John Lennon. Now imagine a world perfectly balanced between people, planet and profit: a true green economy. This is what our workshop will be about: bringing people, organizations, businesses, scientists, and NGOs together in shaping a new way forward.

During the interactive workshop we will present examples from various countries and continents in working together with the private sector to achieve biodiversity conservation goals. Central questions are: what has been done; what works, what have we learned? After these questions have been discussed with the audience we will move on to the ´moving to action´ and main point of the workshop: building on the bundled knowledge and experience of the audience, a plan for action will be developed for a tangible contribution to a green economy.

IUCN´s Leaders for Nature has, in its 6 years of existence, enabled the development of actions plans by companies on global biodiversity and ecosystems. In the upcoming years this will be turned into long-term commitment and cooperation between companies, IUCN and its members. This transition will enable a green economy based on the value of biodiversity, by new alliances and knowledge, co-creation even.

Leaders for Nature will in the years to come, be established in other countries and continents. This will be done by linking to the existing business&biodiversity initiatives, strengthening these and scaling-up to create a true global platform for interaction between conservation and business. The presenters (IUCN, member, business sector) will, together with the audience, develop a plan of action to move forward. Adding people, organizations, businesses, scientists, and NGOs together will give nature a big plus!
