Suk-Chae Lee currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of KT Corporation, the largest telecommunications service provider in Korea.
Dr. Lee’s professional career began in 1970, and he has over 27 years of experience as a civil servant. Major positions include the Chief Secretary of Economic Affairs to the President, the Minister of Information & Communication, and the Vice Minister of Finance & Economy, Korea.
In January 2009, Lee assumed the position of CEO at KT Corp. During his inaugural speech, he declared ‘All New KT’ as the vision, encouraging all employees for a complete organizational change. Immediately, he orchestrated the historic merger between KT and its mobile subsidiary unit, KTF. The newly born KT’s revenue was 18.96 trillion KRW (about USD 16.2 billion). Following this initiative, Lee directed acquisitions and joint ventures with world-leading contents & media companies, along with transformations of HR, information system, and the working environment. In his second term, KT seeks to become the ‘Global ICT Convergence Leader’ with the sales goal of 40 trillion KRW (about USD 34.2 billion) by 2015.
Lee earned both of his Ph.D. in Economics, and a Master’s degree in Political Economy, from Boston University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University.
