THE SESSION WILL OFFICIALLY START AT 2.00 PM
Whose responsibility is it to tackle our current economic and environmental crisis? Is it business? Is it governments? We believe it is a shared responsibility.
Many businesses have transformed the way they do businesses and have adopted measures to address their dependencies and impacts on ecosystem services. However, the role of governments, locally, nationally as well as internationally, is absolutely essential to scale up the conservation outcomes of business actions. Through a balanced mix of regulations, incentives and market mechanisms, policy makers can create the enabling conditions for taking these leading examples to a greater scale creating not only a level playing field but the conditions for catalyzing the positive impacts of the measures adopted by the business.
This Think Tank will highlight some of the more innovative practices that business leaders have adopted, what the results have been and what would be the role that policy makers could play to scale up these efforts.
PART B of the Think Tank will focus on what governments can do to support businesses by creating the enabling environment and a playing level field for businesses that want to integrate biodiversity and ecosystem values into their business decisions and operations.
The event is the second part of a all day event that will start on 8 September at 11.00 am (event 337).
