The workshop will present some experiences of IUCN Member Organizations in Lebanon in the fields of conservation, sustainable development, and community outreach. Through several national and regional initiatives, the Lebanese IUCN Members have adopted eco-friendly approaches to responsible tourism, which resulted in the creation of green infrastructure/buildings, and green jobs. They also have raised higher environmental awareness, and gained better support to their initiatives, through engaging local communities in green activities, and providing new opportunities of income-generation via sustainable socio-economic development projects.
The IUCN National Committee in Lebanon has pooled its capacities as a group, and is mobilizing its efforts to leverage the skills and resources of all the constituent parts of the Union to more effectively achieve the joint vision, mission and programme of IUCN.
Through this workshop, the IUCN National Committee of Lebanon hopes to demonstrate a model of how IUCN Members can lead change in their country and region towards a greener economy, building on the strengths and integrative approach of the IUCN’s One Programme.
