More than two billion hectares worldwide offer opportunities for restoration — an area larger than South America.
With this comes substantial potential to achieve the "triple win": increasing the flow of ecosystem goods and services people need (poverty reduction, food security), strengthened resilience of communities and ecosystems (adaptation), and enhancement of carbon stocks (mitigation).
The workshop will be split into two halves:
1. a High Level Dialogue on restoration and the Bonn Challenge, hosted by the Forestry Minister of Korea, H.E. Dr. Don Koo Lee and IUCN.
2. a technical session on new analysis and tools.
Join us in what IUCN Director General Julia Marton-Lefevre called "the start of the largest restoration initiative the world has ever seen."
You will learn about the location and extent of the landscape restoration opportunity worldwide, its economic value, and its role in delivering a range of benefits, and what people in different countries are doing to identify and capitalize on this opportunity.
