Tropical forest ecosystem in ASEAN region are considerably susceptible to forest degradation for logging and land use change. Coping with uncertain future, it is very important to obtain resistance and resilience for both nature and human. AKECOP has implemented forest research and education projects in ASEAN member states for eleven years to make regional people be knowlegeable to sustainable forest management and global trends in forest and environment and be qualified for forest research and management. Along with efforts to restore the ecosystem structure and function in ASEAN region, capacity building of forest governors and researchers by supporting their research and high-level education is also vital to conservation of tropical forest. This workshop share the achievement of AKECOP for 11 years and suggest promoting a bridging role of Korea between developing and industrialized countries.
