This Knowledge Café event brings together a selected group of experts in participatory tools, grassroots organizations, local and indigenous people representatives to discuss and reach common understanding on how to build on participatory tools and approaches to foster Pro-poor REDD+ approach, more effectively engage local communities in mitigation actions, provide locally generated information, understanding and lessons as inputs to national and global REDD+ policies, and improve local REDD+ collective action.

This Knowledge Café will focus on how best to enhance and use participatory tools and approaches to foster Pro-poor REDD+ approach, more effectively engage local communities in mitigation actions, provide locally generated information, understanding and lessons as inputs to national and global REDD+ policies, and improve local REDD+ collective action.

At the end of the session, participants would have made recommendations/resolutions on how to take participatory approaches forward as a sustainability mechanism for REDD+. These recommendations need to specifically highlight steps to i) take to effectively engage communities at different levels of REDD+ processes, ii) enhance grassroots level REDD+ collective action, iii) generate quality/reliable socioeconomic information to enhance understanding and influence REDD+ policy and planning processes.
