A global strategy of "green growth and nature+"

The theme of the Congress, Nature+, represents the need to take urgent actions to restore nature, which already may be damaged beyond repair. The proposed workshop is closely related to the Congress's theme in that it will propose practical strategies for nature conservation and wise utilization of nature, and it will discuss measures for enhancing the resilient ability of nature based on win-win Green Growth (or Green Economy) strategies.

Island nations have special energy problems which are exacerbated by the lack of land resources. Their special economic, political and environmental characteristics require an innovative approach to enable them to meet their energy requirements. Many island nations are totally dependent on imported petroleum fuels which represent a sizeable portion of their GDP.

Powering the green economy: biodiversity in energy decision making

While all energy options can have negative impacts on people and the environment, whether biofuels or wind or wave, and these impacts can be reduced or even avoided with proactive engagement in planning and siting developments. This can be as directed by governments, and also through companies employing best practice.

This poster aims to highlight the various issues and approaches identified by Members and partners, to support the transition to a green economy in their home countries.

Gestion partagée d´écosystèmes transfrontaliers : l´exemple de la Réserve de Biosphère Transfrontalière du Delta du Fleuve Sénégal

Le Delta du fleuve Sénégal constitue une entité biophysique et écologique transfrontalière entre le Sénégal et la Mauritanie. Or, les interventions, de part et d´autre du fleuve, étaient localisées dans le Parc National des Oiseaux du Djoudj (PNOD), au Sénégal et dans le Parc National de Diawling (PND), en Mauritanie.
