CEC Commission Members' Meeting

Dear CEC members,

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Congress and at the CEC Meeting in particular.

Attached (under documents) is the agenda for the CEC meeting on Thursday September 6th (09:30- 14:00), which will take place in Room 102 (or Yeongju Hall B) at the International Convention Center, ICC. This meeting will be followed by the Opening of the Congress at 17:00.

CEESP Commission Members' Meeting

The CEESP Commission Members' Meeting is open to all CEESP members, and will take place from 08:30 - 13:00 on the 06 September. After lunch the space will also be available for informal meetings and networking amongst the members.

*IMPORTANT: Non-CEESP members may attend this meeting as observers only on a space available basis.

Closing ceremony

The closing ceremony will take place once the Members’ Assembly has finalized all its agenda items. This has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday 15 September from 14:30 to 15:30. However, the precise timing depends on when the Members’ Assembly is concluded.

During the closing ceremony, the outgoing Councillors will be recognized and the outgoing IUCN President will invite the newly elected IUCN President, whose term will begin at the close of Congress, to address the Congress participants.

Reaching and surpassing Aichi Target 11 through the appropriate recognition of ICCAs

This workshop to be held at the Community Ma–eul in the morning session of the 8th of September will offer a wide view of the potential and roles of indigenous peoples and local communities in conservation-- an important component of management effectiveness, good governance and sustainability/ resilience. Participants will be accompanied to:

(i) explore examples and defining characteristics of Indigenous Peoples’ and Community Conserved Territories and Areas (ICCAs for short);

New Models for Engaging Local Communities in Stewardship of Protected Areas: Lessons from World Heritage

High profile protected areas, World Heritage sites and Biosphere Reserves serve as “learning laboratories for sustainable development” and demonstration sites for new ways to sustain ecosystems, species and genetic diversity. This workshop will feature models that make a practical local-to-global connection, building networks among successful projects and linking to financing options.

Coastal Ecosystem Restoration projects with Biodiversity and Community Benefits following an innovative approach involving the private sector

We are pleased to invite you at the Blue Planet Pavilion to discover the Livelihoods Fund iniative and learn more about this innovative approach, that closely involves the private sector, to finance mangrove restoration and agroforestery projects. Tens of thousands of people around the world will have greater access to food because of this unique financial investment fund.

Launch of the 10 Year strategy to protect the crown jewels of the ocean

The objective of the event is to launch the new strategy for UNESCO's World Heritage Marine Programme. It will set out the goal of what the programme aims to achieve by 2022 and the actions and activities it plans to set up to get there.

Existing battery charging time is eight to ten hours, but if you use rapid charger about 3 hours to full capacity and can travel 50km, 1 hour charge will be approximately 30km ride.

Green environmental support center's role for solving the local environmental issues

Green Environment Centers (GEC) shall develop, distribute, educate and promote environmental technologies that meet the needs and specific conditions of each region and shall, in addition, actively participate in the exchange of information and the resolution of regional environmental issues in order to bring about environmentally friendly regions.
