Regional platforms for enhanced conservation – experiences from South-Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus

Convening stakeholders and building partnerships for action lies at the core of IUCN’s mission and is the principle applied across our work on protected areas in Europe. Centered on transboundary conservation and diversified governance approaches, regional conservation platforms in South-Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region help define common objectives, convene different actors, and promote joint actions and solutions.

A review of national and regional Business and biodiversity initiatives in Europe, based on a study that has been carried out in recent months. The report of the study will highlight ongoing initiatives at European country level, and link with European platform and campaign.

Let´s talk about Biodiversity- campaign to increase awareness on biodiversity and sustainable development in Poland

The poster presents an case of good practice: the national multifaceted and multi-target capaign runned by a accademic institution: the University of Warsaw Centre for Environmental Sudies and supported by the Polish Ministry of the Environment and the Polish Commettee of UNESCO. The campaign consist of variety of events like seminars, conferencs, worksops and competitions for posters to involve journalist and arists in active promotion of biodiversity in media. Experience of the local ECONET implementation: harmonization between nature conservation and local livelihoods needs and future prospects

Development of Econet began much later in the newly independent states (Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Central Asia, East European countries etc.).
