Sustaining livelihoods: the children and nature connection and launch of a report on wild flora for rural livelihoods

BGCI Report Launch: Wild flora for rural livelihoods. The report highlights the huge importance of wild plants for livelihoods in Brazil, China, Mexico and India and the opportunities for inclusion of resource species in ecological restoration and maintaining connectivity between protected areas.

Launching a global partnership for capacity development

This event will celebrate two exciting new projects that will enhance protected area capacity development: The launch of Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management Project (BIOPAMA) and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on protected area capacity development between the IUCN and the Convention for Biological Diversity.

1. Implementing natural solutions to climate change in North America - 2. Launch of best practice guidelines for ecological restoration of protected areas

Purpose:
To facilitate and capture conversations about the role that protected areas play in providing natural solutions to climate change and how to build and expand on North American initiatives to connect to the broader global community of practice.

Bushmeat: A collaborative partnership on sustainable wildlife management: CEESP/ SSC Sustainable Use and Livelihoods Specialist Group (SULi)

This event aims to promote dialogue and debate in order to elaborate IUCN’s objectives for the Convention on Biological Diversity's proposed Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management, and to clarify IUCN’s views on the scope of the partnership (regional and thematic), how it would function, and the roles different parts of IUCN could play. The format of the session will be a focused roundtable discussion involving all participants.
