The resolution REQUESTS the Director General and SSC to take the necessary steps to ensure that all amphibians last assessed for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2004 during the Global Amphibian Assessment be updated by 2014, and calls on donors to provide the necessary funding to make this possible. Almost 1,000 amphibian species of the 5,800 species in the world have been re-assessed or recently assessed with the remaining numbers in progress. In addition, the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group is actively working on international disease mitigation regarding chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, in addition to many other activities including field research and conservation, species conservation planning, communications, policy influencing (e.g. through CITES), etc.
