Ramsar Convention adopted a Resolution on environmental water requirements at CoP 12, 2015, under lead of Mexico, supported by WWF.
Concept of sustainable water withdrawals incorporated into SDG 6.4 and wetland conservation and restoration in 6.6. Together these provide a trigger debate and action on policies for water allocation at national level.
WIO-Lab programme approved by the GEF, including environmental flows assessment for 5 East African rivers.
Request by Mozambique and Zimbabwe for IUCN support to integrate environmental flows into binational management agreement for the Pungwe river basin
