Educacin/Comunicacin/ConcientizacinCommunicate the concept of protected area-friendly production and develop consumer awareness through marketing. Educacin/Comunicacin/ConcientizacinDemonstrate methodologies to link protected area friendly production with the delivery of ecosystem services from protected areas. RESULTS: methodologies and concepts have been demonstrated and shared at the International Alliance for Protected Area's annual meeting in Tangjiahe, China, in October 2017, including through trainings of protected area officials from a range of countries. They are also promoted through the Alliance for Civil Society Voluntary Conservation (社会公益保护地联盟), a gathering of 23 leading entities which aims to protect 1% of China's terrestrial area through private protected areas, in complement to the current public protected area network. A proposal entitled "Enhancing Management of Rice Production for improved Biodiversity and Climate Change mitigation" has also been submitted to the International Climate Initiative (IKI) by the Secretariat (with partners) to design, test and demonstrate on the field new agricultural techniques to produce rice in a handful of countries of East and South-East Asia to raise the delivery of ecosystem services such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, habitat for biodiversity, etc. Several communication tools have also been established: two websites - www.gpafs.net (English), www.baohudi.org (Chinese) -, WeChat groups to facilitate discussions among the global expert network, and two official accounts to spread information, on Facebook (English) and WeChat (public account in Chinese).On-going

RESULTS: Two scientific, peer-reviewed, articles have been drafted, entitled "A new approach is needed to shift incentives in favour of biodiversity conservation: the necessary role of protected area-friendly products and services" and "How a more comprehensive functional zone system for terrestrial protected areas could improve and facilitate their management: a review". The former has already been published in Chinese in Tian, D., Xie, Y., Berger, J.Q.C., 2017. 寻找保护与发展的平衡点 ——推动建立全球保护地友好产品支持体系_中华环境网. 中华环境.On-going

Indique cuáles han sido los resultados/logros obtenidos en el marco de las actividades realizadas:
In order to establish the global network of experts and the regional committees and to gather experiences and establish the global trading platform, more than 130 entities have been contacted around the world. A wide range of stakeholders were contacted: Expert working with PA (9), Government working with PA (51), International donor working with PA (5), NGO working with PA (19), Private business working with PA (8), Protected area (37) and Protected areas organization (6). These entities spanned all the continents: Asia (65), Europe (25), Africa (20), South and Central America and the Caribbeans (17), North America (4), Oceania (2), and primarily international organizations (2). 59 of these entities answered to the Secretariat and various degree of collaboration have been established.
A map of the locations of the entities contacted is attached to this report.
¿Qué esfuerzos se están llevando a cabo para superar dichos obstáculos?:
One challenge is the lack of capacity and communication tools of many PA. One measure we took was to multiply communication channels to reach these PA: WhatsApp, WeChat, newsletter, email, etc. Another measure is to focus first on the most promising products and services (chocolate, products in China) to reinforce the case and get strong case studies, before expanding.
