The 1st Meeting of the Interim Governing Committee (IGC) of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment (GJIE) convened in Brasília from 17-18 March 2018. The GJIE is now advancing rapidly in its development, including legal registration in Switzerland, an agreement with UN Environment to support a secretariat, the establishment of a membership enrollment process, and the planning of several major activities in the next two years.
WCEL and members of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment met with UN Environment in Vienna to further develop plans for the Judicial Portal.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Efforts have been made in the legal registration of GJIE in Switzerland.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
WCEL will continue to actively engage in the further development of the GJIE.
