On World Environment Day 2018, IUCN CEM in South Asia launched an online platform, its official blog, 'Harnessing Nature'. Along with blogs and reports, the website shares with public, latest activities and upcoming events by CEM members in South Asia. Harnessing Nature focuses on topographic regions and ecosystems in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka. So far 17 blog posts, 2 reports and 1 podcast are published crosscutting themes of nature-based solutions, disaster risk reduction, ecosystem-based management, natural & green infrastructure, and ecosystem restoration. Entries are edited by a team of international experts, presently representing 4 countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. Furthermore, Harnessing Nature publishes an annual e-newsletter (Harnessing Nature Magazine) which is a visually enhanced compendium of articles submitted to the website. This e-newsletter is available online free of cost and is distributed widely through social networking platforms in co-ordination with the Commission Support Unit at IUCN H+, Gland. The current readership of Harnessing Nature stands from a bit over 30 countries across the globe.
¿Qué esfuerzos se están llevando a cabo para superar dichos obstáculos?:
This project was not funded. To resolve, open source web-based tools and creative commons were accessed as resources necessary for operation. Voluntary contributions from commission members has been the key strength.
