There has not been significant progress on implemenation of this motion during 2019, however there is a review being undertaken of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Programme, and questions of the geoparks policy on moveable geological heritage will be considered in that context.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
There is a lack of time and resources to progress this initiative.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
A next step will be to bring the resolution back to the attention of UNESCO, and see the appetite in UNESCO to explore opportunities to progress. Tim Badman will commit to do this during 2020 and report back.
