Actividades t�cnicas/cient�ficasScientific/researches on the investigations of effects of the changes in forest cover on the distributions of protected animals (brown bear, Balkan lynx and grey wolf) and on the identifications of potential new protected areas in Balkan countries. A research is conducted on the investigations of effects of the changes in forest cover on the distributions of 35 endangered mammal species as identified by IUCN, at global level. An importance of identifying a forest cover threshold is shown for endangered small and large-body mammal species. Completed
Actividades t�cnicas/cient�ficasThese were doctoral and post-doctoral researches on the effects of the changes in forest cover on protected and endangered mammal species using species distribution modeling and data available (mostly) available online. These works are published and or under preview for publications in scientific journals. Completed

There are shown potential new protected areas for protected animal species (large-body mammal species) in Balkan countries filling gaps of research. Research method is replicate for new data and studies. This work has recommendations of species conservation in relation to forests and mammal species.
There were found negative effects of the changes of forest cover in endangered mammal species. Results showed the importance of forest cover for small-body mammal and large-body mammals and of cross-border protected areas for the conservation of endangered mammal species.

Forest and mammal species data differences. Mammal species and forest data were collected around the same time in order to reduce data differences for mammal species and forest cover changes.
