Anguillid eels are receiving significant attention in policy and public fora, particularly in relation to illegal fishing and trade. We are working to ensure science is fed in to these discussions and that focus is spread across all species, not simply those in trade.
The co-ordination within and between countries in relation to management and policy of anguillid eels could be strengthened. We are aiming to address this by working directly with governments and relevant RFBs.
