AccinDescripciónStatus
Educacin/Comunicacin/ConcientizacinECO included aspects of the CBD and SDG policies and processes in our annual conferences. We reported on these matters and events we were aware of also to our member bodies and to the other readers of our weekly email bulletin. ECO participated in Hui E! discussions and in an Auckland University of Technology conference on the SDGs and helped to facilitate round table discussions.On-going
Influencia poltica/promocin de polticasECO is reporting on several years for this report. We made submissions (in 2017 or 2018) on the process of the development of the post 2020 targets to CBD; We submitted directly to the CBD on a few substantive matters. We made submissions to the NZ government on these and the SDGs, and quoted IUCN submissions and suggestions in the process. We collaborated in a civil society alternative national report on the SDGs, particularly SDG 14 "Under the Surface". . ECO wrote that particular chapter though there was a bit of editing done by a committee. We have supported the provisions for the transition in New Zealand to give greater recognition to and governance rights of Maori in a variety of legal and policy decision making and other processes.On-going
Indique cuáles han sido los resultados/logros obtenidos en el marco de las actividades realizadas:
We have had no evidence that the New Zealand government has paid any attention to the Hui E! civil society national report, but there was discussion of it at the Auckland UT conference.
Provisions for the transition in New Zealand to give greater recognition to and governance rights of Maori in a variety of legal and policy decision making and other processes are becoming mainstream and are strengthened in a wide range of policy and of legislation that the present New Zealand government is consulting on.
¿Qué esfuerzos se están llevando a cabo para superar dichos obstáculos?:
The sheer lack of our capacity to get across all the matters in which we would like to be involved and that are relevant. The number of domestic NZ late reforms from 2018-2019 that demand our attention; the many chapters of the SDGs, and the huge scope of the CBD, plus the demands on all to strengthen a just transition re climate, the BBNJ negotiations. Governments overstating progress..

Influencia poltica/promocin de polticasWe continue to press for compliance with the various international agreements including UNCLOS and its clutch of agreements in relation to NZ's marine management; lifting aspirations for climate action, for biodiversity conservation.
