Educaci�n/Comunicaci�n/Concientizaci�nWorld Forest Day was celebrated in a school with students. Environmental educator Davidson Sargunam highlighted the importance of forests and said that it was a privilege to live in the Western Ghats, a bio-hotspot, UNESCO heritage site and part of Agasthiarmalai Reserve. He said that major animals as elephant, tiger, leopard, Indian gaur, sloth bear have their habitat in the Western Ghats and minor animals as wild boar, porcupine, civet cat, mongoose, cobra, King cobra, vipers, green snake, Malabar squirrel, sambar, barking deer, spotted deer, bonnet monkey, Nilgiri langur, common langur and lion tailed macaque and more than 300 birds and about 1,000 herbal medicinal plants live there. He stressed that it was the duty of every person to conserve and protect all the species. He pointed out the challenges as hunting, poaching, illegal trade in wildlife, unscientific method of harvesting herbal medicinal plants, forest fire and impact of climate change and global warming are severe threats to the flora and fauna and people should plan and devise ways and means to face these challenges. ¿Qué esfuerzos se están llevando a cabo para superar dichos obstáculos?: 
Challenges are trekking in the jungles is a risky affair amidst poisonous snakes and ferocious animals. We have to trek in trails challenging odd weather .We take precautions while entering into the jungles. But provision of sensor tools will be a blessing to safeguard us.
