Actividades de campoEstablishment of forest nurseries to provide energy alternatives and reduce the consumption of mangrove firewood. Implementation of 6 ha of agroforestry systems with the Inga Edulis species, fruit trees and native vegetables (Yucca, sweet potato, chipilín and malanga) to reduce traditional slash-and-burn agriculture. Installation of 36 wood-saving stoves to reduce mangrove felling. Reforest 5 ha of tropical forest in the community of San Juan for sustainable management and use of timber species.Completed

Increase the forest cover of 12.09 ha in degraded areas in the communities of San Juan and Barra Sarstún.
6.23 ha of agroforestry systems made up of fast-growing woody species were established.
Installation of community mangrove nurseries with the capacity to produce 5,000 plants.
Experience exchange tour with community leaders to learn about a successful mangrove conservation experience in Guatemala.
