GLOBAL ECOSYSTEM TYPOLOGY (GET)
- There has been a significant Convene/Networking effort, around the development of World Ecosystems Atlas, with GEO as the leader. The results of this initiative are still uncertain.
RED LIST OF ECOSYSTEMS (RLE)
- Adopted as a headline indicator in GBF may encourage future adaptation at the national or regional level as stated in the resolution
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Waiting to see if the GEO-led "World Ecosystem Atlas" initiative is aligned with IUCN GET (and would significantly contribute to this resolution). Currently CEM Members are very actively contributing to initiative.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
- Mapping the Ecosystem Functional Groups and Global Ecosystems within the IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology is key for upscaling its use and application
- Develop communication material and training for the wide use of the Typology
- Support national authorities for the joint application of RLE and Natural Capital Accounting
