“Amazonía Que Late” was created in 2017 with 5 regions, and with the legal technical secretariat of Amazónicos por la Amazonía – AMPA, by 2024 there are more than 180 conservation initiatives, such as private and communal conservation areas, conservation concessions, ecotourism concessions, non-timber forest concessions, agrobiodiversity zones and environmental conservation areas in 11 regions of Peru (Amazonas, San Martín, Loreto, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Junín, Pasco, Huánuco, Cusco, Cajamarca and Piura). As a national network, we voluntarily protect nearly 2 million hectares and represent a savings to the Peruvian State of more than 15 million soles per year, only in control and surveillance actions to reduce deforestation and address environmental crimes.
¿Qué esfuerzos se están llevando a cabo para superar dichos obstáculos?:
In the midst of the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, it is urgent to join forces to reduce deforestation and comply with the 30x30 commitment of the Convention on Biological Diversity, which seeks to protect at least 30% of Peruvian territory by 2030. Voluntary conservation is key, demonstrating that organized networks can effectively confront threats such as illegal activities, etc.
