Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
WCPA and the French National Committee of IUCN continue to be the key actors for the implementation of this Resolution. Some activities have been reported from the French National Committee of IUCN, including support to the preparation of a national action plan on old-growth forests, and the support in the preparation of awareness raising material for forest owners on the same topic. From WCPA, the following actions have been reported:

-WCPA Europe hold 3 calls with its members / experts during the past year
-WCPA participated the EU Forest and Forestry Stakeholder Forum in order to provide inputs to EEA about mapping the old-growth forests in Europe (we also had direct liaison with EEA about this topic)
-The importance of OGF as carbon stock was highlighted in Keith et al 2024 which WCPA members contributed

On the policy front, the discussion at EU level on the definition of strict protection continues. WCPA relevant members participated at an event organized by the EC on this topic in November 2024.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
The discussion on strict protection is a key element of this discussion, and is still ongoing. WCPA (and the IUCN Secretariat) understand that the IUCN categories (including Ia, Ib and II, with some caveats) can be a helpful tool in this debate and will highlight the during the ongoing process.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
A meeting with the EC is now in the making, to discuss the potential use of IUCN categories in the definition of strict protection towards the achievement of the related EU 10% target.
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
