This report reviews the most recent research findings and management issues on the utilization of coastal resources in Senegal, with the view to providing baseline guidelines for future coastal planning initiatives.

This report makes a positive contribution toward informing governments, agencies and NGOs of actions that need to be taken to reduce significantly the adverse conditions of future droughts.

The authors show how cost-benefit techniques can be applied to biodiversity and how they provide a measure of the efficiency of conservation techniques. Only if biodiversity conservation passes a basic economic test such as cost-benefit analysis is it likely to be incorporated into policy.

This publication, prepared in cooperation with the oil industry’s Exploration Production Forum, sets out the oil exploration process, describes the potential environmental consequences of exploration and recommends measures for the prevention or minimization of adverse impacts.

Attention has increasingly focused on the extraction of non-timber forest products as a way of managing tropical forests in a sustainable way.
