Activit�s visant � influencer et/ou promouvoir les politiquesIUCN ECARO experts paid a visit to Macedonia in May 2015 where we had the opportunity to meet representatives of the Ministry of Environment, including HE Minister Izairi, the Macedonian Electric Power Company (ELEM), the EBRD, and the World Bank, two major investors involved in hydro power development in Mavrovo NP.
Activit�s techniques/scientifiquesA field mission (on the spot appraisal) to Mavrovo National Park under the auspices of the Bern Convention/Council of Europe was carried out on 23/24 June 2015

A mission report is still in preparation. IUCN Secretariat is in close touch with both WCPA and SSC experts in providing expert input to the report.

Through visits and exchanges of expert views the IUCN Secretariat has been trying to maintain political dialogue on the importance of minimizing the negative impact of hydro power development in protected areas.
