Indicate and briefly describe any actions that have been carried out to implement this Resolution:
ActionDescription
Activits de terrainPreventing extinctions and site conservation - the Amphibian Survival Alliance (ASA) has supported several critical habitat projects through its Leapfrog Conservation Fund, including in: Ecuador, Philippines, Borneo, Brazil, Madagascar and Guatemala.
FundraisingSustainable support for ASA - At this time ASA is going through a transition period. However, it has been difficult to secure sustainable funding for ASA’s operations throughout the years.
Activits visant influencer et/ou promouvoir les politiquesIn 2015, a workshop convened by ASA, attended by ASG and others, sought to identify the world’s amphibians most at risk from illegal trade. The list that emerged was used to narrow down priority species in international trade, and proposals for inclusion in CITES Appendices were developed for CITES CoP17.
Activits techniques/scientifiquesCaptive breeding - There is currently limited captive breeding capacity and more species that need conservation breeding programs than there are programs established. The ASA is working with key partners such as Amphibian Ark to develop a network that can deal with any emergency situations re: getting species back into the wild once threats have been mitigated.
Activits techniques/scientifiquesChytrid fungus research - Recent (2015) research conducted by ASG members has documented the first successful elimination of chytrid fungus in a wild amphibian, the Mallorcan midwife Toad. The study combined antifungal treatment of Mallorcan midwife toad (Alytes muletensis) tadpoles with environmental disinfection. Work on
Activits techniques/scientifiquesUpdate of amphibian assessments on The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species - currently 1,891 up-to-date amphibian assessments have been completed. It is expected that if the same level of investment continues (after increased resources), the reassessment of amphibians on the Red List should be completed by the end of 2017.
Veuillez indiquer quels ont été les résultats obtenus dans le cadre des activités entreprises pour la mise en œuvre de cette Résolution:
See above.
Quelles mesures ont été prises afin de surmonter ces obstacles ?:
Searching for new funds and partners, putting illegal amphibian trade on policy-makers’ radars, a new ASA KBA focal point who has significant experience with KBAs, etc.
Veuillez indiquer et décrire brièvement les activités planifiées par la suite pour la mise en œuvre de cette Résolution:

Activits techniques/scientifiquesSome ASA partners plan to shore up resources to target the protection of key sites for amphibians. However, as the resolution is directed to governments, NGOs and donors, we would very much appreciate that IUCN do all it can to ensure that its member states and organizations are made aware of the critical importance of supporting this resolution.
