IUCN SSC guiding principles on creating proxies of extinct species for conservation benefit

This document sets forth SSC guiding principles on the creation of proxies for extinct species as a potential conservation tool to restore biological diversity, to enhance ecosystem stability and resilience, and to engage in meaningful dialogue with the public about the role of proxy creation for conservation.
