IAF is also an active partner of IUCN European Sustainable Use Group (ESUSG). On-going
FundraisingIAF is actively promoting the problem of electrocution in Mongolia and Central Asia. We are discussing possibilities to finance the work on mitigation of poles with different organisations and governmental agencies in Asia. The European Foundation for Falconry and Conservation (EFFC) waa established by the International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey (IAF) to assist in the funding of projects that support the role of falconry in conservation, animal welfare, education and culture. The first project we plan to finance is mitigation of power lines in Morocco. We are also discussing possibilities to finance mitigation of most dangerous lines in Mongolia.On-going
Activits techniques/scientifiquesIAF was co-financing in 2016 and 2017 a survey of Saker migration, using the satellite tracking. One of the aims of the survey is the long-distance effect of electrocution on migratory birds. In first 2 years of the project some birds were electrocuted, proving that electrocution can influence populations which breeding range is thousand kilometers away.On-going
Veuillez indiquer quels ont été les résultats obtenus dans le cadre des activités entreprises pour la mise en œuvre de cette Résolution:
The problem of electrocution is not new, we are promoting especially the case of Saker populations in Central Asia. IAF is in contact with European Commission where we ask for incorporating the safe-birds poles issue in European Union development programs.
We are currently discussing possibility to finance work on electric lines in Morocco and Mongolia with few possible donors.
Quelles mesures ont été prises afin de surmonter ces obstacles ?:
It is difficult to get the information about electrocution to decision makers of financial institutions nad other funding organisations.
