In March 2017, IUCN European Regional Office supported Nature’s Rights – a non-profit organisation seeking to establish legal personality and rights for ecosystems and species – held an event at the European Parliament in Brussels, to launch their initiative in Europe and explore the possibilities granting nature’s rights could bring to the discussion.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
It is difficult for the secretariat focal point to judge because no reports have been received from relevant members or commissions.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
A focal point at the World Commission of Environmental Law needs to be appointed to monitor the development.
