Scientific/technical activities
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
Members of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) have already developed a Framework for Resilience Development in the Pacific (FRDP), endorsed by Pacific Island Forum Leaders, which aims to provide an integrated approach to address climate change and disaster risk management in the region. The activity report submitted by CEM also refers to the technical work done by US-based members, including the preparation of the Hawaii Sea Level Rise Vulnerability and Adaptation Report, which assesses the impacts of climate change on Hawaii, and provides recommendations and guidelines on climate adaptation that may also be of relevance and use to other Pacific island states.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Lack of sufficient data/funding has been identified as a challenge in implementing some of the technical work done in Hawaii
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
The activity report submitted points to the need to develop additional regionally-specific climate action reports, as done in the case of Hawaii, which could be aggregated down the line and help guide regional planning and adaptation
Are these actions planned for yet:
No
Status of implementation
Status of implementation for this Resolution:
