FormationBirdLife International and Wildlife Reserves Singapore have been coordinating the IUCN SSC Helmeted Hornbill Working Group (under the IUCN SSC Hornbill Specialist Group). Other capacity building initiatives are also in place. Hornbill Research Foundation organised a field-based hornbill capacity development workshop in May 2018 in Thailand. On-going

Activités de terrainSystematic monitoring of Helmeted Hornbills in Malaysia (Belum-Temengor with Malaysian Nature Society) and in Thailand (Khao Sok and Khlong Saeng forest complex with Bird Conservation Society of Thailand) is ongoing. Other field activities in place too. This project also involves capacity building of the relevant forest departments. On-going
Activités techniques/scientifiquesBirdLife International is leading a collaborative project to identify the Helmeted Hornbill's population strongholds across the range countries. The project also identifies gap areas where rapid population assessments need to be carried out. On-going

Rassembler des parties prenantes/RéseautageSarawak Forestry Corporation of Malaysia has called for a meeting of NGOs and governments on 19 - 20 February in Miri Sarawak to decide on our strategy to implement the CITES COP17 resolution conf. 17.11. BirdLife International, Wildlife Conservation Society and other NGOs will be joining this meeting.
Education/Communication/SensibilisationBirdLife International, TRAFFIC and our collaborators are developing a project to understand the types of Helmeted Hornbill products sold physically and online in Chinese markets. This is to understand the drivers with a view of developing targeted demand-reduction campaigns.
