Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
*Convene stakeholders/networking
Wildlife Reserves Singapore, the Natural History Museum Thailand and the IUCN SSC Pangolin Specialist Group convened a workshop in Bangkok in September 2019 to conduct an ex situ needs assessment for the Sunda pangolin. This resulted in a recommendations document which is currently being finalised.
*Communication
The IUCN SSC Pangolin SG (among others in conservation) continue to profile pangolins through dedicated social media streams.
*Scientific/technical activities
A new book on pangolins ‘Pangolins: Science, Society and Conservation’ was published in November 2019, which involved a majority of IUCN SSC Pangolin SG members. The book compiles the latest knowledge of pangolins and their threats and proposes a suite of conservation solutions.
The IUCN SSC Pangolin SG, working with members and non-members, re-assessed pangolins for the IUCN Red List. The updated assessments will be published in December 2019.
*Policy influencing
The IUCN SSC Pangolin SG, working with the IUCN Secretariat, provided scientific and technical information to the CITES CoP18 meeting (summer 2019). In addition to working with Parties to ensure there remains a continued focus on pangolins to CoP19, the SG held a side event through which it disseminated findings from the workshop held in 2018 to advance development of population monitoring methods for pangolins.

Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
*All stakeholders (practitioners, NGOs, relevant government agencies, academics) should seek to implement actions devised for pangolins in conservation strategies for the species.
*Population monitoring methods need further evaluation and testing.
*Illegal trade should be stopped along international trafficking chains – including adequate site-based protection, anti-trafficking measures and behaviour change to reduce demand for pangolin products where it is unsustainable.
