Indicate which actions have been carried out to implement this Resolution :
Policy influencing/advocacy
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
Limited Progress have been made during 2019, due to opposition by a few states to fulfilling a previous decision in CCAMLR to create a network of MPAs. GMPP took part in an expedition organized by the Antarctica Forum of China where a number of prominent and influential persons took part. One of the main points of discussion was how to strengthen the conservation of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Continued opposition to advancing the MPA nominations that have been on the table for the last few years.

Engagement with relevant stakeholders to better understand reasons for opposition to MPAs and to ensure a smooth nomination process in 2020. Perhaps the CBD COP in China will provide such an opportunity.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
Further engagement with relevant stakeholders. Ensuring that the IUCN MPA categories are well understood and properly applied.
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
