The latest situation around the issuance of a permit to proceed with the mine, delivered by the US Army Corps of Engineers, is complex. The permit has just been paused, as a result of a campaign mediated in part by core Republican interests with close links to the White House. It may be that the permit pause will last beyond the 2020 election.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome : 
many political interests are blocking the progress on the resolution

Continuing advocacy work by IUCN members and others to delay the implementation of the Army Corps of Engineers permit.
