Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
2021: SFI is engaging with the Penticton Indian Band (PIB) to link Indigenous knowledge with scientific knowledge by assessing the effectiveness of enhanced riparian management in the Penticton Indian Band (PIB) area of responsibility in British Columbia. The project will showcase how implementing the SFI 2022 Forest Management Standard and the PIB Enhanced Riparian Standards integrate recognition of Indigenous rights and drive improved management and outcomes for Indigenous values relating to water quality on SFI‑certified forestlands. Understanding and incorporating Indigenous knowledge via Traditional Knowledge keepers is an important step in affirming the right of Indigenous Peoples to sustainably manage and utilize wild resources.

2022: SFI launched its 2022 Standards last year which includes a new Objective 8, Recognize and Respect Indigenous Peoples’ Rights, ensure respect for Indigenous Peoples’ rights and traditional knowledge, which is aligned with the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. With respect to the COVID-19, SFI has worked and partnered with Indigenous communities throughout the pandemic. SFI has adhered to protocols, requests, or direction from Indigenous communities in managing Covid-19 safety measures for instance, the Intertribal Timber Committee (ITC) requested that meetings be held virtually until such time as they feel the issue has been addressed satisfactorily.
