Indicate which actions have been carried out to implement this Resolution :
Policy influencing/advocacy
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
Given its requests to the IUCN Council, the PPC has formed a Task Force to undertake this work. The Task Force focal point has been in touch with the Centre for Policy and Law (CPL) of the Secretariat to discuss the various options for implementing the Resolution, especially the policy review requested in operative paragraph 4b. Given the substantial resources that would be involved in a comprehensive policy review, the Task Force and CPL reached out to the Global Information Systems Group (GISG) to explore innovative options, including the use of artificial intelligence. GISG contracted a specialist firm on a pro bono basis to develop an interactive tool -- Chat R&R -- in which users can query the Resolutions and Recommendations database, and the tool will respond with summaries and other digestible and accessible responses. The tool has undergone testing by GISG and CPL colleagues.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Resources have been a challenge. Given the quantity of Resolutions and Recommendations adopted since 1948, the asks in this Resolution are extremely labour (and therefore resource) intensive for a small team.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
For the policy review, there is a plan to slowly rollout the Chat R&R tool to a broader user base. The details are still being worked out. It remains uncertain how the request to present a new slate of Resolutions and Recommendations for consideration by Members at the World Conservation Congress 2025 will be implemented.
Are these actions planned for yet:
