This volume provides the most comprehensive review available of the conservation status of African primates. Thirty species, comprising over 50% of the primate fauna of the continent, have been identified as threatened, ranging from the little-known Angwantibo to the gorilla and chimpanzee.

Coral reefs are one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world. Teeming with life, they are also one of the world's most productive natural communities. Yet they are under increasing threat.

The guidelines are intended to provide an outline of major issues which need to be addressed in the process of developing legal instruments for protected areas at national and sub-national level.
