Convene stakeholders/NetworkingIn the framework of a scoping project in the COMIFAC region, IUCN convened all the ABS national focal points of the 10 Central African countries. Two reports specifying the needs and support needed were prepared and recommendations made of where IUCN could focus its actions in the near future to support the implementation of the Protocol.
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessAs part of the activities within a GEF project lead by our SUR Office, GPU and ELC developed awareness raising, training and general information material on the Protocol. This material has recently been added to the ABS Clearing House of the CBD and will be presented again at a meeting on capacity building in mid-September 2015.
Policy influencing/advocacyEncouraging Parties to CBD to ratify and implement the Protocol using our policy position papers as appropriate

What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
A follow-up project to be presented to the French under the IUCN-France Framework Agreement is being prepared at the moment. The idea is to agree on additional funding to carry out the activities that were identified as priority in the COMIFAC region and then expand to other regions as appropriate.

Capacity-buildingMaterializing specific CB activities identified in the scoping exercise. Through new partnerships, seek further funding for CB activities in other regions (e.g. the Caribbean together with ORMACC and in Asia with ARO).
