A regional workshop with 53 representatives of South America was put in place in Quito in October 2013. The regional workshop aimed to implement the two main request of the Resolution no. 95 that calls the institutions and agencies of the national States to promote the research, recovery and use of traditional knowledge and practices as a strategy for adaptation to climate change and to include it in their public policies; and to work with CEM to ensure traditional knowledge to be included in the comprehensive inventory of tools to combat climate change. The workshop convoked an ample diversity of experts and had a very rich interchange of knowledge about this topic.
A publication – “Sabiduría y Adaptación” – has been produced out of the technical reflections of the implementation of the project “Climate change, change you can too” as well as the regional workshop. This book collects thoughts of the links between adaptation to climate change and traditional knowledge. This book collects reflections from diverse technical fields of knowledge making recommendations of what should be taken into account when generating policies for climate change.
