Scientific/technical activitiesProviding scientific knowledge of selected areas such as the Sargasso sea and the South West Indian Ocean Sea mounts, or issues such as open ocean blue carbon and deep sea mining impact on ecosystems

The UNGA decided in January 2015 to open negotiations on an implementing agreement of UNCLOS on biodiversity conservation in ABNJ.
Nairobi Convention and Abidjan Convention decaled their interest to extend their competencies on areas beyond national jurisdiction.
The International Seabed Authority is taking steps towards measures for avoiding and mitigating impacts of future deep sea mining operations in The Area.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?:

Continuing actions for influencing the decisions to conserve biodiversity in ABNJ diverse levels : Regional Seas Conventions, Regional Fisheries Management Organizations, International Seabed Authority, amongst others.
