ActionDescription
Convene stakeholders/NetworkingIUCN PACO implements the Global Water Initiative in West Africa, including assessment of resources equity and risks for vulnerable people in irrigation development in West Africa.
FundraisingIUCN Secretariat raised funds for demonstration and learning from interventions in landscapes and watersheds aimed at reducing the vulnerability of livelihoods to land-use change and climate change, with the aim of improving food security and access to water for poor people.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
The SUSTAIN-Africa programme was launched in 2014 with implementing partner the African Wildlife Foundation, which includes demonstration and learning from intervention measures using the landscape approach to improving food security, sustainability of water allocation and climate resilience. IUCN PACO, in partnership with IIED, has used results from the Global Water Initiative to advocate changes in legal protections and land tenure arrangements for smallholder irrigators in West Africa.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
Further development of efforts for fundraising on food security, although this requires up front investment, which is currently not available.
