Convene stakeholders/NetworkingA workshop, for private and public sector,was held in Azores focusing on“Towards a solution for marine litter in the Azores”. With financial support from the Gallifrey Foundation, IUCN set up a research project (starting 1st October 2015) aiming to establish a baseline on marine litter in the Azores.
Policy influencing/advocacyJoined as member the Advisory Board the “Sustainable Recycling Industries”.
Scientific/technical activitiesA Report Plastic Debris in the Ocean. The Characterization of Marine Plastics and their Environmental Impacts, Situation Analysis Report. By F. Thevenon, C. Caroll and João Sousa (editors), IUCN (2014) is the most recent scoping publication in the topic of microplastic.

Convene stakeholders/NetworkingIUCN is preparing a stakeholder platform, about voluntary action from private sector to tackle plastic marine debris, with committed businesses from within the plastic value chain, the kick-off meeting will be in Monaco in November 2015.
