Indicate and briefly describe any actions that have been carried out to implement this Resolution: 
ActionDescription
Policy influencing/advocacyIUCN remains engaged, though with limited capacity, in supporting UNESCO's work on promoting global geoparks. The secretariat also coordinates the evaluation process for World Heritage Sites, which can include nominations made in relation to geological heritage, and where partnership with UNESCO, IUGS and other specialist bodies is maintained.
Scientific/technical activitiesThe lead on this resolution is currently primarily with WCPA, supported by the relevant members. WCPA should report, but are working on improved guidance on geoheritage conservation, as part of the WCPA best practice series. The secretariat has very limited time to support this effort, but has sought some funding to contribute to its achievement.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
1. WCPA to report on progress .. but one technical meeting was held in 2015, and drafting of guidance has advanced.
2. Global Geoparks were adopted as a new programme of UNESCO in 2015, which is a major achievement, and IUCN (through the Secretariat) has a seat on the Advisory Council of the International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP).
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
There is no budget available to support implementation, and very limited relevant technical capacity in the Secretariat on the content involved. Thus the strategic focus of the Secretariat is to support the efforts led by UNESCO, and via WCPA, to the extent possible.
