There is no budget available to support implementation, and very limited relevant technical capacity in the Secretariat on the content involved. Thus the strategic focus of the Secretariat is to support the efforts led by UNESCO, and via WCPA, to the extent possible.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
1. WCPA to report on progress .. but one technical meeting was held in 2015, and drafting of guidance has advanced.
2. Global Geoparks were adopted as a new programme of UNESCO in 2015, which is a major achievement, and IUCN (through the Secretariat) has a seat on the Advisory Council of the International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP).
