If there are activities, it is being exclusively shared amongst a small group, and not being shared amongst stakeholders who are focused on the environmental, health and socio-economic risks. IUCN was tasked with “Developing new alliances/partnerships, support congresses, identification/invitation of new members, organize meetings, create and/or develop networks, convene stakeholders in various settings.” However, if there are meetings, they may be confined to a small group of advocates promoting the benefits of synthetic biology, and may not be balanced with discussions about concerns and risks.
