Description and results/achievements of activities:
Theare are three dugongs recorded around Okinawa island, named individual A, B,and C.From May until mid-July of 2014, more than 150 dugong feeding trails by indivisual C at the planned area for reclamation off the Camp Schwab of Henoko.
Since May 2015, the dugong indivisual C has never used Heono and Oura bay area. However the sea wall construction which is a begenning part of the reclamation project has started last year. The above stated seagrass bed has aleady lost.
This is a crisis for endangered dugong population.

One new dugong was found in 2016, therefore there are now four dugong.

The construction works for the United States Marine Corps facility (Futenma Replacement Facility) has started in 2017. Seagrass beds for Okinawa dugong has been lost.
