Describe the results/achievements of the activities
Key achievements, in alignment with the 'Promise of Sydney' recommendations on climate change, have included: (i) highlighting the role of protected areas in the climate action plans/nationally determined contributions (NDCs) that countries were required to submit under the Paris Climate Change Agreement such as, for example, done by Mexico; (ii) the publication of specific IUCN guidance for protected area managers and planners on how protected areas can be made more resilient to climate change; and (iii) the efforts by member states including in (but not limited to) the Oceania region, as reported in the activity report, to build marine spatial plans/marine protected area networks, inter alia, for enhancing their resilience to climate change.
